Abstract
The article offers the author's experience from joining a research group at the Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter at the Chinese Academy of Science in China through the Collaborative Exchange Research and Materials in Ceramics Science educational program. The author relates the knowledge she gained about the different applications of transparent ceramics. She also relates how the program helped her understand more about her cultural background as a Chinese-American.
