Abstract
Highlights: [•] The thermal degradation of HCB is observed in the presence of CaO. [•] Efficient dechlorination and polymerization of HCB is achieved at 380–400°C. [•] The mass unbalance in thermal degradation is explained by polymerization. [•] Amorphous carbon is identified as the outcome of polymerization. [•] A method for qualify the carbon as a reaction product is provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
