Abstract
The article presents a study that compared the efficacy of autologous transplantation and maintenance therapy in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma. Topics include the prolonged progression-free overall survival among patients who underwent consolidation therapy with high-dose melphalan plus stem-cell transplantation, and the efficacy of lenalidomide as maintenance therapy in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma who were eligible for transplantation.
