Abstract
The article discusses a study that describes an unanticipated intramolecular etherification directed toward the synthesis of novel analogs of bruceantin 1 with improved stability and biophysical properties. Highlights include replacement of oxygens of ester linkages with nitrogen, hydrolysis of the C-15 side chain of the readily available plant product 2, and conversion of 6 to 8 with observed NOEs for starting material and product.
