Abstract
Recent analyses conducted by the United States Real Data System indicate that dialysis patients with concomitant comorbidities such as systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple myeloma, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, or other secondary glomerulonephritis/vasculitis are at greater risk for anemia. Understanding the interrelationships between anemia and these comorbid diseases can help guide nephrology nurses in the development of individualized treatment plans that can ensure improved anemia-related outcomes in these populations.
