Abstract
"Case of the Month" from Cambridge University, UK: managing intractable bleeding from a 375 cc prostate in an anti-coagulated patient Abbreviations CBI continuous bladder irrigation HoLEP holmium laser enucleation of the prostate IVC inferior vena cava MDT multidisciplinary team PAE prostate artery embolisation PV prostate volume RBC red blood cell Case Presentation A 77-year-old man with a body mass index of 42 kg/m SP 2 sp was admitted with a short history of visible haematuria followed by passage of large clots and then difficulty urinating. In the present case, it was only possible to embolise one of the prostatic arteries and coned beam CT angiography was not used, which probably explains why it did not stop the prostatic bleeding and why the radiation dose was so high.
