Abstract
Highlights: [•] We analyzed the effectiveness of ledges combined with fencing for culvert use by mesocarnivores. [•] Video surveillance and track-plates were used to detect crossing events over one year. [•] The presence of ledges promoted the crossing events for stone martens and genets. [•] Ledges should be placed on those culverts with more than 3cm of water-depth most of the year. [•] We recommend exploring the role of ledge size and construction materials in particular for foxes and badgers. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
