Abstract
The article focuses on the identification of spermine and spermidine, abundant polyamines found in semen, as factors that selectively inhibit the transmission of CXCR4-tropic HIV-1 (X4-HIV-1) but not CCR5-tropic HIV-1 (R5-HIV-1). It mentions Spermine, present in semen at high concentrations, binds to CXCR4 and effectively restricts sexual transmission of X4-HIV-1.
