Abstract
The article discusses the concept of barefoot supervisors, or indigenous people trained in basic medical procedures and sent out to administer aid to far-flung communities where otherwise no aid would be available. The author offered insights on the concept in terms of his role of supervising two communities of counselors working with the dying and adults who were abused as children. He described his aim of providing informed, ethical and professional supervision.
