Abstract
The reaction of [Sc(CH2SiMe3)3(THF)2] with an equimolar amount of 1,3-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidinium chloride in toluene proceeds with a deprotonation of the latter and activation of a CH-bond of one of methyl groups in the ortho-position of the 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl substituent to form an alkyl complex {[κ2-C-(2,4,6-Me3C6H2)N(CH2)3N-4,6-Me2C6H2-2-CH2-κ1]Sc(μ2-Cl)CH2SiMe3}2 coordinated by a κ1C:κ2C-bonded expanded-ring NHC-ligand.
