Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 25 year-old man with a low-velocity ballistic injury in the left axilla was managed by emergency room thoracotomy. Topics discussed include the gunshot wound, surgical exploration to determine the injury, arteriotomy with bullet removal and the patient's eventual death due to complications. The importance of identifying arterial ballistic embolisms in the initial trauma evaluation is also considered.
