Abstract
The article presents a study which proposes the use of body sensor networks (BSNs) to increase the safety of operatives during manned bomb disposal missions through detailed physiological monitoring, fusion of health information and remote alerts. The study proposes a sensor fusion and modeling approach that estimates the overall sensation of the suit wearer. It reveals that skin temperatures for different body parts vary leading to heat exhaustion, thus, there is a need for health monitoring.
