Abstract
The article features the Lyra Society, a nonprofit established by Elizabeth Hainen to increase awareness of the harp as a major solo instrument. Every year, the Lyra Society selects a composition student from the Curtis Institute of Music to write a new work for the harp. An excerpt from "Floating Bells," the newly commissioned work by Daniel Temkin, is presented.
