Abstract
The article discusses contemporary theatre production in Japan. Topics explored include the promotion of Japanese theatre through the annual Tokyo Festival, comparison between Japanese contemporary theatre productions and kabuki in terms of availability of English language translations for foreign audiences, and brief details about the stage plays written by dramatist Mikuni Yanaihara.
