Abstract
The article focuses on the temporal disparity of action potentials (APs) triggered in axon initial segments (AISs) and distal axons of cortical interneurons. Topics include the spontaneous occurrence of retroaxonal APs (RA-APs) in human and rodent cortical interneurons, differentiating between AIS-initiated APs (AIS-APs) and RA-APs, and how these distinct AP types contribute differently to network operation during various states of cortical activity.
