Abstract
The article describes the implementation of pharmacist-directed program for obese patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC) from November 1, 2010-July 31, 2012. The clinical pharmacist assists the bariatric surgeon and endocrinologist in monitoring blood pressure, administering insulin and assessing other drugs taken by the patients. A comparison between sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is discussed.
