Abstract
Summary: To optimize the management of renal anaemia, a number of Australian renal units have recently appointed renal anaemia coordinators. In conjunction with these appointments, a novel computer software package, the Renal Anaemia Management Database has been implemented. The database is a patient-centred clinical database featuring point-of-care data collection, display and analysis. The Renal Anaemia Management Database collects and collates data such as erythropoietin dose, frequency and route, as well as iron parameters and resulting haemoglobin levels. It also has the capacity to store, retrieve and analyse a number of patient demographics, comorbidities, treatments, results and outcomes. Patients can be reviewed in cohorts or a whole-of-unit review can be generated. Data may also be exported and aggregated with that from other renal units for global analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
