Abstract
The National Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening Program in the Czech Republic was launched in 2000 and transitioned to a population-based program in 2014. The program saw a significant increase in the participation rate of the target population in CRC screening. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, overall participation dropped in 2020 and 2021. The study evaluated the level of participation in the program and the effectiveness of screening tests. The coverage of the target population with CRC screening tests varied over the years, with FOBTs and screening colonoscopies being the most common tests performed. The positivity of the screening FOBT increased, leading to longer waiting times for colonoscopies. The study concludes that while the program has had a positive impact, there is still room for improvement. [Extracted from the article]
