Abstract
The article reports on permafrost temperatures and active layer thickness in Alaska, Canada, Russia and the Nordic region in 2013. Topics discussed include the new record high temperatures measured at some permafrost observatories on the North Slope of Alaska and in the Brooks Range, the decadal trends in active layer thickness, and the impact of climate warming on terrestrial permafrost.
