Abstract
The article discusses the first International Bow Music Conference hosted by the University of KwaZulu Natal in Durban, South Africa from February 24-27, 2016. The event focused on musical bows and included academic discussions, concerts and musical workshops. Topics at the conference included the South African bow tradition, global bow music practices and bow scholarship. The event featured bow musicians such as Mkhulu Bhemani Magagula and Gogo Mphila of Swaziland and author David Dargie.
