Abstract
The article discusses a study conducted to describe the chemical weathering of biotite grains of Gomati River sediments in the Ganga Alluvial Plain in the Himalaya. Topics discussed include impact of mineral-water interaction on soil formation, release of sediment load to Ganga River and transfer of trace elements into ground water.
