Abstract
The article presents the history and evolution of interoperative saphenous nerve somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP). It discusses the revolution of lumbar spine surgery with the introduction of the transposas approach for lumbar interbody arthrosis, as well as the introduction of extreme lateral lumbar interbody fusion technique, spontaneous electromyography and triggered electromyography. The author presents details of his research into SSEP and motor evoked potentials with quadriceps.
