Abstract
The article discusses the problem of under-representation of women in political institutions in Great Britain, especially in devolved institutions. Data relating to the proportion of women members in the National Assembly for Wales, Scottish Parliament, Northern Ireland Assembly and the House of Commons are presented. It also discusses how to use the kinds of language used by women in debates to investigate the progress made by women in political institutions in Great Britain.
