Abstract
In this article the author discusses aspects of government supported public education in the United States. She claims that because public education is supported by tax payers indirectly, rather than by those who directly benefit from education, the education market will be under supplied, will be of poor quality, and suffer from neglect. A number of topics are addressed including the provisions of secondary education, aspects of the public funding of higher education, and the author's contention that education should be a private not a public good.
