Abstract
To achieve power production with zero carbon emission we need to shift towards renewable power to meet the world's energy demand. But, an issue with a large increase in renewable power generation is the lack of dispatch ability; without adding storehouses, increases in renewables can strain a power grid. Due to the fuel flexibility of a gas turbine, it can operate on hydrogen (H2) and does not produce any carbon emissions in power generation. Here no carbon is emitted in the production of hydrogen i.e., we use green hydrogen. This review paper will provide an update on how gas turbines will perform when green H2 is used as a fuel, hydrogen production methods, storage & transportation, challenges with H2 flame, requirements for upgrading existing turbines to operate on hydrogen fuel, current capability of different OEMs in hydrogen gas turbine field.
