Abstract
This article discusses a rare case of a 5 mm port-site preperitoneal small-bowel incarceration without a fascial defect following laparoscopic hysterectomy. Port-site hernias (PSH) are a known complication of laparoscopic surgery, with an incidence ranging from 0.2% to 3.1%. Factors such as port diameter, access technique, and patient characteristics can affect the risk of PSH formation. In this particular case, a 44-year-old patient presented with acute abdomen symptoms two days after the surgery, and a computed tomography (CT) scan revealed small-bowel incarceration. Laparoscopic exploration and subsequent open surgery were performed to resolve the incarceration and treat complications. The article highlights the importance of recognizing risk factors and monitoring for PSH after laparoscopic procedures. [Extracted from the article]
