Diagnosis of monkeypox infection was based on viral and clinical findings, and patients were offered symptomatic treatment. All patients with confirmed monkeypox cases referred to our department were consecutively included in the study; prospective visits for clinical and virological evaluation were scheduled at days 7 and 14. At the same time, a favourable cosmetic outcome was especially valued in patients with facial lesions, as prevention of stigmatization resulting from persistent lesions and scars is a major concern.
