Abstract
Rugose spiraling whitefly (RSW) is one of the major pest which affects the coconut trees. A mathematical model for understanding the dynamics of this system along with agricultural awareness is analysed using saturated response functions (Holling type-II). The stability analysis of the biologically feasible equilibrium points is observed by applying Routh-Hurwitz criterion and constructing suitable Lyapunov function. We perform sensitivity analysis to determine the effect of parameters on the system. Also, an optimal control problem is proposed by introducing the control parameters to figure out the feasibility of better disease control with cost-effective control strategies. Our results evoke that public awareness on the application of various control measures can significantly reduce the contact rate thereby controlling the disease spread. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
