Abstract
The article considers the possibility of incidental findings (IFs) in brain function during the resting state and argues that there is a duty to consider possible IFs despite the ambiguities of data interpretation. A case study for the resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging is presented as well as a framework for thinking about the range of new IF possibilities. The role of education for identifying and handling functional IFs is also tackled.
