Abstract
In the article, the author discusses liberal democracy and its potential effects on people. Also cited are the views of philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche on democracy and the character of democratic citizens, the proposal of Richard Rorty to address the dilemma of democratic mediocrity, and the global culture of respect for international law.
