Abstract
Contact tracing with early identification and treatment of prevalent TB cases together with the provision of TB preventive therapy for infected/exposed children will further reduce the number of TBM cases; unfortunately, these opportunities are often missed [[14]]. Every opportunity to increase our knowledge of CSF penetration of first- and second-line anti-TB drugs should be used, and well planned therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of CSF specimens in children on anti-TB treatment may accumulate experience. Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) remains the most devastating form of tuberculosis (TB). Intravenous vs oral treatment Long-term intravenous (IV) treatment of children with TBM is rarely achievable, as most TBM cases occur in resource-limited settings. [Extracted from the article]
