Abstract
The article describes the process of the Invited Service Review (ISR), which was established by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) in 2000 to support good medical practice and contribute to improved healthcare in Great Britain, and explores some of the common themes that have emerged. It notes that the chief executive or medical director of a trust usually requests for an ISR. It cites service delivery, patient safety and workload issues as some of the most frequent concerns involve in an ISR. Also included are information on the terms of reference, documentation, composition of the ISR team, and the review visit.
