Abstract
Families are intimately involved in the dynamics of the alcohol/other drug problems of family members with these problems. Their adaptations to a baffling and devastating disorder of loved ones are viewed as normal and not in terms of psychopathology. Recovery resources for family members are examined, together with the need for advocacy in the part of families, expressed in the new recovery advocacy movement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
