Abstract
This article discusses the environmental impact of small-bowel capsule endoscopy (SBCE) and its contribution to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The study evaluated three different SBCE devices using life cycle assessment methodology and found that the weight of the capsule itself was minimal compared to packaging and other components. A full SBCE procedure generated between 19 and 20 kgCO2e, with patient traveling accounting for the majority of emissions. The article emphasizes the importance of retrieving and properly disposing of the capsule due to the prohibited components it contains. [Extracted from the article]
