Abstract
The article outlines the cellular and molecular description of some interactions between Malessezia and humans. There are only 4,285 genes in a genome sequence of Malasezzia globosa. Information on the difference between dermatophytes and Malassezia species is provided. Malessezia-host immune system interactions are facilitated in atopic eczema patients due to their defective skin barrier. It notes the potential use of zinc pyrithione as a treatment option for Malassezia.
