Abstract
The antioxidant and antigenotoxic properties of the probiotic consortium, including the strains Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactococcus lactis, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, were investigated. According to the results o f our research the total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of the intact cells in the probiotic consortium was high - 15.3 mmol/ml, glutathione reductase activity was 0.004 U/ml, Superoxide dismutase activity was not revealed. The total antioxidant capacity of the cell lysates in the probiotic consortium is 11.1 mM/ml, glutathione reductase activity - 0,008 units/ml, superoxide dismutase activity - 0.24 U/mg. Co-incubation o f the epithelial cells with the probiotic consortium reduces the percentage o f damaged cells (DI - 0.6). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
