Abstract
Posterior calvarial augmentation in patients with Crouzon syndrome can be considered to reduce the intracranial pressure especially in the presence of Chiari malformations. These Chiari malformations are noted in 50%-100% cases of Pfeiffer syndrome, Crouzon syndrome, and also in cases of oxycephaly and kleeblattschädel skull deformities. This was evident by the ocular disc changes on fundoscopy, computed tomography scan appearance showing "copper beating" in the occiput, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) demonstration of Chiari malformation/tonsillar descent, and MRV showing multiple venous collaterals and evidence of dilated scalp veins. The rest of the anthropometric examination was the following: head circumference: 44 cm, biparietal diameter: 22 cm, occipito-frontal circumference 27 cm, inner intercanthal distance: 3 cm, inter pupillary distance: 5.7 cm. Investigations Computed tomography (CT) was suggestive of bilateral coronal suture fusion, bilateral lambdoid suture fusion, but the sagittal suture was open. [Extracted from the article]
