Abstract
Evaluation of cross-sectional area of single abaca fiber specimen In order to evaluate the tensile strength of the single abaca fiber, it is necessary to measure the cross-sectional area of each fiber. Measured value of maximum tensile strength It can be seen in Figure 6 that the tensile strength of the fiber is significantly related to cross-section area, in which thinner fiber tend to have higher value of the tensile strength. It is possible to design a high strength abaca fiber reinforced composite structure by combining the fiber orientation and the aspect ratio of the fiber with consideration of the fiber fracture mechanism.
