Abstract
The article discusses the role of the health community in mitigating the growing risk of nuclear war in the face of military rivalry between Russia and the U.S. It explains the deteriorating relations between the former adversaries due to their opposing support in the Syrian and Ukranian wars that could lead to open military conflict. It reveals the dangers that could be magnified by the Russian military doctrine to use nuclear weapons to reinforce its military defense when attacked.
