Abstract
The article focuses on the association between various psychotropic drugs and increased risk of osteoporotic fracture. Some research indicate the role played by neurotransmitters in regulating bone metabolism. Previous studies revealed that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) is linked to lower bone mineral density and greater fracture risk. Among the medical disorders that are related to higher fracture risk are depression, dementia and schizophrenia.
