Abstract
We report on both a model and experimental verification of the high frequency nonlinearity for coplanar waveguides (CPW) composed of a dielectric substrate coated with nonlinear dielectric Ba[sub 0.4]Sr[sub 0.6]TiO[sub 3] films. For the CPW with a propagating microwave signal (f[sub 0]approx. 30 GHz), modulation of Ba[sub 0.4]Sr[sub 0.6]TiO[sub 3] film dielectric constant by a high frequency (f[sub p]approx. 20 MHz) pump signal results in the generation of sidebands with frequency (f[sub 0]±Nf[sub p]). Experimental and simulated spectra of CPW output signals are presented as a function of the direct current bias voltage, pump voltage amplitude, CPW length, and CPW nonlinearity. © 2001 American Institute of Physics.
