Abstract
The authors argue on the need to address the gaps in laboratory leadership to meet global health security goals. Topics covered include the critical role that public health laboratories play in the detection, prevention and control of diseases, and the value of the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) Workforce Development Action Package which outlines the need for rigorous and sustainable training programmes for public health professionals.
