Abstract
The article discusses the role of the antioxidant molecule glutathione (GSH) in regulating cellular redox homeostasis and its impact on various physiological processes, including the function of regulatory T lymphocytes, epithelial cell activation, and cancer cell survival. It highlights the importance of protein S-glutathionylation (PSSG), a mechanism where GSH attaches to reactive cysteines within proteins, in controlling cellular processes and preventing overoxidation of cysteine moieties.
