Most of the mycobacteria pathogenic to fish, including I M. salmoniphilum i , does not grow at 37°C and there is probably no, or low health risk associated with consumption of fish infected with mycobacteria (Gauthier & Rhodes, [4]). In farmed Atlantic salmon in Norway, I M. salmoniphilum i is the only mycobacterium species that has been identified so far (Sommerset et al., [9]). Immunohistochemial staining for Mycobacterium sp. demonstrating mycobacteria (red colour) surrounded by Splendore-Hoeppli material in a granuloma. [Extracted from the article]
