Abstract
It is shown that the action of \operatorname {SL}(3,\mathbb {Z}) on the Stone-Čech boundary of \operatorname {SL}(3,\mathbb {Z}) / \operatorname {SL}(2,\mathbb {Z}) is amenable. This confirms a prediction by Bekka and Kalantar [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 373 (2020), pp. 2105–2133]. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
