Abstract
These bends may be at certain points: (1) where the internal jugular vein joins the subclavian vein (2) left brachiocephalic vein drains into the superior vena cava and right atrium. Infolding of central venous catheter in left internal jugular vein - A comment In this one instance where left internal jugular vein cannulation was attempted with a 5.5F 8 cm catheter, there was a difficulty in guidewire advancement after a certain point, though it was confirmed to be in the vein by ultrasound.
