Abstract
The article focuses on the archaeological excavation of two Civil War sites in Bates County, Missouri, by a team led by Ann Raab. The archaeologists are attempting to uncover the history related to a story of how the Union Army destroyed buildings under the command of General Thomas Ewing, Jr.'s General Order No. 11.
