Apple-peel jejunal atresia associated with multiple ileal atresias in a preterm newborn: A rare congenital anomaly The apple-peel type of jejunal atresia is the rarest form (1:50 000) of all small intestinal atresias. Surgical exploration revealed a markedly distended atretic jejunum with a "type 3B" intestinal atresia (apple-peel jejunal atresia) and a significant loss of intestinal length.
