Abstract
The article focuses on teaching division to mathematics students in Great Britain. The draft primary curriculum for England includes long division for 11-year old students, despite even high performing primary schools, in both the state and private sectors, not being able to do this. The author says that only by realising the importance of the mathematical interconnectedness of division can teachers enable learners to understand what division is about.
