Abstract
Protein contact dermatitis is an allergic dermatitis due to immediate-type hypersensitivity, proteins being the most frequently recognized antigens. Food handlers, bakers and veterinarians particularly suffer from it, frequently in association with atopy. The patient had worked as a hairdresser until a few years previously and had a history of a contact dermatitis due to delayed-type allergy to p-phenylenediamine, which had completely remitted after giving up this job. She had been working as a cosmetician for 5 months when she began getting severe contact dermatitis of both hands up to 3 h after external applications of calf placenta extracts.
